ive always had a bit of fascination when it comes to the middle eastern culture,these people live so different from the life i know.. everything seems so forbidden its like an entirely different world.. perhaps because its a male dominated culture IDK.. that being said the title on this book:
THE LAST LIVING SLUT: BORN IN IRAN, BRED BACKSTAGE’
written by roxana shirazi grabbed me by the neck and said READ ME! and i did, i sat down at the cafe and for a solid 2hrs and i wasnt able to look away.. some of it is too much at times.. even at the darkest points in the story, this book is impossible to stop reading.. its an honest story by an author who is unafraid to present herself exactly as she is..
her childhood in iran is described very well and that history explains why she went in search of freedom and sexual liberation in the rock and roll world once she was exposed to it.. but she found that it wasnt all it was cracked up to be.. she realized that the only freedom she could count on was to be who she is.. the book doesnt offer a nice simple happy ending and for that i liked it even more.
