gallery fotografic prague

as i wandered/explored the streets of prague i came across a small photo gallery unlike any ive seen before, it was in the middle of a narrow street filled with graffiti on both ends.

if im not mistaken the gallery is a bit underground however the work featured here comes from only the best in and around prague. this place has a great feel to it and i was very much inspired by the art i got to see.

first idea about the project of photographic gallery/studio was there already in june 2002. at first just an idea, which step by step developed into a full reconstruction of an abandoned space of an old stable under the factory chimney in the historical center of prague in stribrna street. gallery space, finished 2003, should have served first of all as a studio for various photographic and other art experiments, nevertheless it has developed into regular presentations of well known as well as of younger emerging artists and artistic formations.

one of those nights..

HUUUUURRRRRR MUH GERRRRRRRRD!!!!!!!!! tonight i was again reminded how truly blessed and awesome my life really is, i have the most loving mum & dad, excellent homies, a job that always manages to keep me laughing & smiling and a freaking badass for a boss.. also, ive had the liberty to do a little traveling and this coming week im super stoked to say that i'll be chillin' in madrid & prague. i havent quite figured where i wanna be in life and i dont have the babe that i love by my side regardless my life is pretty chill.

just recently ive been going to a lot of shows & music venues on my own.. that may sound kinda loser(ish) and thats cool, to be completely real with you guys ive had the best time going to these things on my own.. ive had the chance to make new friends and become crazy inspired by the mind & craft of others and every now and then ill even manage to randomly meet up with the homies (tonight happened to be one of those nights)

i was crazy excited to see SBTRKT(subtract) i even managed to sneak my camera in to the show (cuz ima thug like that) however the lady bouncer caught me slippin' & gave me the ultimatum to put my piece back in the whip or GTFO :( my boyish charms were no match for this woman so i did what any other person would have done and said "FK YOU" naw j/p i actually did what she asked and put it back in the whip and walked back inside :D it worked out big time because i was actually able to enjoy one of the best shows ive ever been to.. sadly i wasnt able to shoot the fellas from SBTRKT however this lil cutie was at the show..

somewhere between the second dj's set i get a text saying: dude i totally see your doppelgänger.. twas me :D

there is growing outrage in uganda over a viral internet film viewed by more than 32 million people in four days that suggests africas longest running conflict is still raging in the country’s north. the 30 minute video, kony2012, was produced by three american videographers campaigning for greater efforts to capture joseph kony, the leader of the LRA.

but kony and his diminishing troops, many of them kidnapped child soldiers, fled northern uganda six years ago and are now spread across the jungles of neighbouring countries.

“what that video says is totally wrong, and it can cause us more problems than help us,” said dr beatrice mpora, director of kairos, a community health organisation in gulu, a town that was once the centre of the rebels’ activities.

“there has not been a single soul from the LRA here since 2006. now we have peace, people are back in their homes, they are planting their fields, they are starting their businesses. that is what people should help us with.”

intriguing yet sad photograph, it makes me wonder what the story is behind it, were they friends or lovers? or perhaps just strangers who were too scared to jump alone?

what ever the story may be, it shows that people need a helping hand even in their final moments.

ohaguro-bettari is a female "yôkai" (japanese term for demons or monsters) who appears at twilight usually in a shrine or temple outside of a town. there are also stories of one appearing in ones own house, though this is rare. she wears a beautiful kimono, some say she wears a wedding dress, in either case she is turned away or is concealing her face in her robe. from behind she appears to be a beautiful woman so passersbyers ask what is wrong, either out of kindness or curiosity. exclaiming “GYA!” she reveals her white face, the bottom half splitting open to reveal her teeth stained pitch black and cackles wildly. faced with this most men pass out from fear.
