RB interviews: paul keo

i caught up with one of the most hard working and energetic individuals to come out of the explosive texas hair scene. the 25-year old DFW native learned the arts of weaving and designing your illustrious locks at the prestigious toni & guy school, if youre looking to up your hair swag then hes is the man for you.

RB5000: where were you brought up?

PAUL: south irving texas

RB5000: did you always want to be a hair stylist?

PAUL: no, i went to school for business with a minor in art but i dont really consider myself smart, just creative and artistic.

RB5000: do you enjoy your work? if so, what do you enjoy the most?

PAUL: i love it! i especially enjoy working on men with long hair, business cuts, mullets, the hitler, curling hair, braiding hair, lots of volume ,big hair, setting curls, blondes, red heads, wavy hair, clients that trust my professional advice, easy going clients that say DO WHAT EVER YOU WANT and cutting employee hair.. oh yeah, shoulder length cuts on women!

RB5000: thats a lot

PAUL: well yeah those are my favs, i have alot to offer.

RB5000: what else do you do beside cutting hair? any hobbies?

PAUL: thrifting! i love thrifting for my friends. i love vintage, antiques and i spend my days off going to the salvation army, goodwill, movie trading company as well as the theatre. im a huge horror movie fan i also enjoy sci-fi and fantasy.

RB5000: who are your style influences?

PAUL: good question! i love alexander wang and his personal style. i love over sized sweater and t-shirts, i love mary kate and ashley, i love skinny bitches in baggy clothing, trashy, chic, vintage, classic, simple, boyish. dolce & gabbana always has amazing collections, i replicate their style in a more affordable way.

RB5000: any guilty pleasure(s)?

PAUL: uhhh thats a tough one... i still listen to mariah carey and aaliyah, i watch full house dvds occasionally. i dont think thats a gulity pleasure though because i think other people would enjoy those things as well i'm not really ashamed of what i'm into.

RB5000: your best style advice

PAUL: knowing and choosing the right clothes for your body type/proportions. having a good eye for composition helps! style isnt something you one day wake up with, its something youre born with! also, having a gay guy friend helps as well but not all gays have good taste so any individual with great style of their own could give good advice.

RB5000: what does your wardrobe consist of?

PAUL: right now im obsessed with black sweatshirts/t-shirts with colorful sports prints. grandaddy sweaters/cardigans, jackets: leather, trench, long black coats, blazers, loads of members only. i have alot of clothes i buy and havent worn i like to think of them as my secret weapon when i'm completely out of something to wear. and i also love navajo inspired clothing M.I.A. is also a style influence, anything that extenuates my neck like low cut tees and v neck i dont like to cover my neck.

RB5000: what does sexy mean to you?

PAUL: sexy mentally is someone who is very comfortable with themselves and their surrounding as well as other people. "physically"? masculinity. i love guys who are just guys.. hairy, basketball shorts, t-shirt and jeans, tennis shoes, ethnic men.
