gwendolyn graham and cathy wood

these lovers worked together at the alpine nursing home, where they killed five women in the 1980’s.

they met while working at the nursing home. they first started using asphyxiation during sex, and then Graham brought up killing. they used the murders as a game, picking victims whose names would spell out the word “murder”. graham would suffocate the women while wood kept a lookout. graham would also keep souvenirs from her victims. she picked women that had alzheimer’s and would be physically unable to put up a fight.

the couple actually bragged to coworkers about killing these women, and no one took them seriously. they used the souvenirs to relive the murders.

when graham tried to make wood actually kill a victim herself, to prove her love, wood refused and the couple broke up. wood left the nursing home. she had told her ex-husband about the murders and he reported them to the police in 1988, which led to an investigation.

when graham was arrested in 1989, she insisted that her claims that she had killed the women were only a joke, to freak out her coworkers. but she was convicted of five murders and given five life sentences. wood was sentenced to 20 to 40 years in prison.
